About Osteopathy

Osteopaths sit under the same umbrella as other musculoskeletal therapists such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We are all allied health practitioners who help to treat and manage musculoskeletal conditions and we all have different tools to go about this.

Osteopaths are AHPRA registered allied health practitioners who hold a master degree in health science. Of the allied health practitioners in this field osteopaths tend to be more 'hands on', often providing the much needed manual therapy to prepare the body for recovery or maintenance exercise programs. Manual therapy techniques include massage, stretching for joints and muscles, specialised techniques to manage connective tissue restrictions and scar tissue. Manipulation and Dry point Needling techniques are also in the osteopathy repertoire.

Will I have to take my shirt off?

In some instances, to properly assess an area we might require you to partially disrobe. However this is something we can work around if you feel uncomfortable.

Does Medicare cover osteopathy?

If you have a chronic health condition that requires you to see multiple different practitioners you may be eligible for an EPC referral through your GP for a rebate to see your osteopath.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothes that you can move in is always helpful but not essential.

Do I have to pay upfront for ongoing appoinments?

No. Osteopaths believe in helping the body help itself so we will not be suggesting any more visits than you need to improve. This is always a very individualised timeline which we can plan out together.
